Bexar County

Bexar County adopted a budget of about $2.8 billion for fiscal year 2025-2026, with around $901 million in the general fund, an increase of about $138 million from fiscal year 2024-2025. New construction and development has helped bump revenues even while appraisals on existing properties have grown slowly or even fallen.

There are as many as 69 different taxing entities across Bexar County, including emergency service districts, public improvement districts, and water authorities. University Health System is the largest, with a total budget for fiscal year 2025 of $3.21 billion. Property taxes make up around 17% its revenue.
